FAQs + What to bring to your Pilates session

WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?

Wear casual workout gear that you can move freely in.
We ask that all clients wear socks and bring their own towel and water bottle.
It is also recommended that male clients wear Skins under their shorts.

What do I need to bring with me?

In your Pilates Props Pack you will need to have your own:

  • Towel

  • Socks

  • Head cushion (if you need to use one)

  • Theraband

  • Soft ball

You are welcome to bring your own mat and foam roller.

Therabands are available for sale at the studio for $8 and soft balls for $12.50.

Head cushions are also available for $25 & tote bags to ‘house’ your Pilates props pack for $24.

Body Revolution have their own Pilate Props bag available to purchase. Sharon has had these made by local businesses – the pre-washed calico cushions & bags are made by Margie Stafford at Flash Faery Industrial Sewing, cushion inserts by Dyman Foams & screen printed by Lee T Shirts.

IS PILATES RIGHT FOR ME?

Pilates was developed in the early 20th century by Joseph Pilates as a rehabilitation program for soldiers injured in World War One. The program aimed to help soldiers regain their health by strengthening, stretching and stabilising key muscles. Over time pilates has become popular amongst dancers and professional athletes, but it is highly beneficial for ordinary people looking to improve their movements in day to day activities.

Pilates focuses on the core and lengthening the body and aligning the spine. This makes it great for improving awareness of your posture and can help alleviate and prevent back, neck and joint pain.

We believe pilates should be accessible for every one. It is not a fad, but a lifestyle choice that can help you to move better throughout every day life.

HOW OLD (OR YOUNG) DO I NEED TO BE?

We currently have clients ranging in age from 10 to about 75. Classes can be tailored to suit your skill and strength levels. Regular pilates sessions will help you learn to move your body the right way so you can keep doing what you want to do for a long time.

CAN I CLAIM LESSONS FROM MY HEALTH FUND

Receipts are emailed to clients upon request. Clients may be able to claim on our pilates services with some private health funds. Please check with your health fund to see if your policy covers it.

HOW OFTEN SHOULD I DO PILATES?

Completing two sessions or more a week is recommended. This helps you build body awareness, strength and flexibility faster.
You can combine mat and studio classes to get good results.

WILL PILATES HELP WITH MY INJURY RECOVERY?

Pilates is great for the prevention and rehabilitation of many injuries. Many of our clients have found pilates has helped with their recovery. Please contact us to discuss your concerns and needs before booking a class.
